JAH3 Kingston, Jamaica

Run 274

Jackson Bay Beach,
Clarendon

We just can't seem to avoid a really HOT annual summer run in Clarendon, that hottest of all Jamaican parishes. Luckily for us, the beachfront offered wonderful breezes and, for those who were brave, and smart enough to bring water shoes, a refreshing bath for afterwards.

Guano, Cotton Head, Scrap Iron and (still) Stanford marked the path leading through this flat southern countryside with shreddy. Scouting the trail using Google Earth,  they have certainly ushered the JAH3 into the 21st century with a vengeance!

So did Pothole when he switched from his map to his laptop and GPS after getting lost in the sugar cane fields and bushes of Clarendon, in the attempt to make it on time for the start.

Nevertheless muddy waters, macca bushes and much sweat waited upon us before the much awaited ON IN. I truly hope that all those injuries due to macca or sea urchins have healed by now!

We were welcoming lots of new runners, whose many names I did not record, but remember a few in particular:

First of all Jan Pauel, friend of Cockpit, arriving in a most splendid Land Rover, which even I would trade a BMW for! Other friends of Cockpit came from Ohio and Louisiana via Runaway Bay: Wendy Lee, David Auden, Simon Lee, Doug & Margaret Sparkman, Bill Lowrey.

Joining us from Florida and New York were hashers Steve "Belly Dancer" Alpers and "Jamaica Me Horny" with their hash virgin friend, Roy. Come again ON ON a next holiday!

Stanford deserved to be christened "Water Stop" as he had not provided the same during this

Markus Wiemker from Aachen, Germany, world traveller and an experienced marathon runner and virgin hasher, interrupted his preparation for his presentation on computer games to the Culture Conference at UWI the next day, to learn what a hash is all about.

And Mutton was unwise enough to introduce her grandson to the craziness of the JAH3.

run. We hope he will live up to his name when next he will be setting a hash supported by Google Earth and GPS!

ON ON,

Yours truly, BMW
